CPC Transport Manager FAQs

What is a CPC Transport Manager?

The Certificate of Professional Competence course in Road Transport Operations Management is a qualification that allows the holder to act as a Transport Manager in a road transport undertaking. Every road transport operator must hold an operator license as part of their license conditions and they must have a qualified transport manager. If you are looking to set up a passenger or haulage business or you are looking to advance your career this is the course for you. The course is designed to meet the requirements of Regulation (EC) No. 1071/2009.

What does CPC TM training cover?

The course covers all of the required modules to ensure you are test ready for your exam with the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport. These modules include an introduction to haulage and passenger transport operations, how to set up a transport business, how to access the road transport market, financial and transport operational management, technical standards, documentation and relevant legislation, route planning and road safety.

Can I do this course online?

Yes, our course is delivered in live online sessions.

What is the standard course duration, and how many years is the certification for?

The course duration is 3 hours per, day 2 to 3 days per week depending on which course you choose. You must complete a minimum of 100 hours of tuition before you can sit the exam. Once you have successfully passed your exam there is no requirement for recertification.

Is there an exam?

Once you have successfully completed your course your instructor will notify the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport of your readiness to sit the exam. You will then need to book directly with the CILT for the next upcoming exam date, which is generally within 4 weeks of completing your course.

Where are the courses located?

Do I need to have a Bus or Truck license to do the course?

No, there is no requirement to have any form of previous transport experience or knowledge to successfully complete the course.

ADR Courses FAQs

What is ADR?

ADR is the acronym given to The European Agreement Concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road, which was made in Geneva in 1957 by the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe, and amended in April 1985. ADR certification is required for any driver who operates a vehicle used for transporting dangerous goods by road throughout Ireland and the EU.

What does ADR training cover?

There are two training course options: basic and tanker. Basic training is a 3-day course and covers the transport of packages and IBC containers. The 5-day course covers the transport of packages, IBC containers and tankers.

Can I do this course online?

Yes, the course is currently available online and classroom-based.

What is the standard course duration, and how many years is the certification for?

The course duration is 8 hours per day for 3 or 5 consecutive days depending on the course type. The certification is valid for 5 years.

Is there an exam?

Once you have successfully completed your course, your instructor will notify the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport of your readiness to sit the exam. You will then need to book directly with the CILT for the next up and coming exam date which is generally within 2 weeks of completing your course.

Where are the courses located?

We deliver our public courses from our training centre in Finglas, Dublin 11 and off-site nationwide at our customer’s locations.

Certificate of Professional Competence for Drivers and Managers

Any individual employed as a professional bus or truck driver qualifies for CPC. This is a legal requirement enforced by An Garda Síochána and RSA Transport Officers. Any individual who manages a Road Haulage or Passenger Transport business is legally required to hold a valid CPC in accordance with Road Traffic and Transport Legislation. The certification is provided through the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport. ADR Hazardous Chemical

ADR regulations apply to any individual responsible for the movement of dangerous goods by road, in tanks, in bulk and in packages under the European Agreement Concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road. Drivers who are transporting dangerous goods are legally required to have the appropriate training and hold a certificate of proof of training. Upon completion of their training course, participants will have the training and certification required to work under ADR regulations.
